Live Like it Counts
Project SOS is proud to present an entirely new, innovative program this school year. The school assembly is presented as a three act play entitled, "Live Like It Counts". It is designed to help students understand the importance of focusing on their goals, encourage them to set bondaries in life, and empower them to be leaders in their community. This high energy, dynamic presentation is both relevant and emotionally charged. It entertains and educates students on the risks and consequences of pre-marital sex, abuse, violence, low self-esteem, and drug and alcohol use. At the conclusion of the play there is an interactive discussion period with the cast. The highlight of the conclusion is the personal life stories of the cast.

The lead educator, along with a staff of young adult cast members, present this program to middle and high school students.  The assembly can take place in a gymnasium, cafetorium, or auditorium.  All students will receive a copy of the Project SOS student magazine.

Mentoring Clubs Classroom Presentations

The mentoring clubs are facilitated by youth development mentors. The clubs use a group mentoring approach to teach students life skills. Mentors utilize activity based learning, team-building, talking tips, video clips and discussion to teach core concepts related to positive decision making. The desired outcome is to foster a sense of empowerment in teens that encourages them to make good choices and trains them to be leaders in their community. Clubs are voluntary and can be scheduled before or after school.

This is a brand new service offered by Project SOS.  The classroom presentations use the Envision Curriculum to teach students life skills and empower them to make healthy choices.  It includes five to eight hours of instruction during school and can be taught through health, physical education or science classes.  A youth development educator will utilize worksheets, activities, multi-media presentations, and discussion questions to facilitate in-depth teaching on items required by the National Health Education Standards.  All students will receive a copy of the Envision Student Manual.a
